Martial Fusion was founded for
several reasons, one of the least known reasons is due to the founders
of
the organization's fascination with the use of "sticks" or Escrima
Clubs.
Well, before their Kenpo utilization within the movie The Perfect
Weapon,
they have been fond of the beauty and power behind training with
sticks.
One of our founders found himself drawn to stick training through years
of
Kenpo training, while another through study under other martial arts
disciplines. With this interest towards Clubs in mind, they set
forth to create something new, and do something different.
After a lot of experimenting
and
planning, they made their first set of sticks. The first set were
woodburned
and painted once a design was decided upon, however this method was not
found
to be very cost effective. While woodburning is available, the
process
is rather time consuming and would be fairly expensive. One of
the
creators of the FireStorm Clubs took that first set to the studio one
day,
and the interest in them was instantaneous. The Clubs they made
were
very different in the beginning from the current designs, however there
was
such a draw for them, a decision was made. The result of which is
Martial
Fusion and their line of Lightning Bolt Clubs.
And
after
a lot of thought and conversation, the folks at Martial Fusion decided
to
create a staff line as well. In the beginning, Martial Fusion
wasn't
sold on the idea for several reasons, the biggest being
originality. However, influences both inside and outside of the
Kenpo world shifted their
unwillingness towards a staff line. The results of this change of
heart
being the AfterShock Staff. While there may be some similarities
in
the design of the AfterShock Staff to the Lightning Bolts, there were
different
considerations to take into account with the motion involved.
Now we have taken
our equipment
creations and taking a shot at empty-hand training equipment. All
of
us at Martial Fusion have not been big fans of traditional or
commercial
empty-hand training aids. It's not that they are bad or inferior,
it's
more that they just don't cover enough bases when it comes to Kenpo
training.
So we have a new training aid in the works called the Fusion
Dummy.
This striking dummy will encompass almost everything in Kenpo
training.
About the only things you won't be able to work on with the dummy would
be
grappling and some manipulation. More information will be
available
soon.
